Captain's Message of July 2008

Family fun, rest and relaxation is what most of us are looking forward to this summer. While we dream of lazy days at the beach or enjoying a day of golf, the Board of Directors must replace these fanciful thoughts with the upcoming events for our Krewe. Your Board continues to work diligently on the Golf Tournament on September 19th, the Bead Party on August 24th the Revelation on November 23rd and the Coronation Ball on February 14th. Your participation is what makes these events enjoyable and successful. The chairs for each of these functions go out of their way to make sure that it is the best it can be. Look for a few surprises and changes to make it even more fun than years past. And let me tell you, that is not an easy task.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the officers for their hard work on our recent “Luau” Membership Party held at Covington Country Club. Special thanks to Billy Bragg, Mike Anderson and Kenny Booth for not only preparing the outstanding pig roast for the Luau but also for dedicating their entire day to getting it ready for the Krewe. We couldn’t have done it without you guys, thanks again! For those of you lucky enough to make it to the party and enjoy the evenings’ food and festivities, thanks for showing your support and commitment to your Krewe. Members that attended are already looking forward to the next party....especially their wives! These parties are a great way for the wives of Krewe Members to get to know each other. Let’s make everyone feel involved and welcome by making an effort to attend and support our Krewe at the functions that your Board Members work so earnestly to arrange.

We are anticipating a great turnout for the upcoming events. Our desire is to surpass past attendance at all events! So come on ya’ll! Let’s get your membership dues paid, let’s stop putting it off until later! Orpheus is in full swing and we want you! We are the uncomparable Krewe on the Northshore! People come from around the country to take part in our ride. Let’s stay enthusiastic about what we have and what we have accomplished! Remain committed, loyal, and true to your Krewe!

As always, I remain, your steadfast, true to the Krewe, Captain!

Hail Orpheus! Hail Yes!
